Chhaava is a compelling narrative about the brave warrior whose coronation on this date in 1681 heralded the start of a legendary reign. Vicky Kaushal takes on the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. He dedicates himself to preserving the Maratha Samraj’s legacy against the Delhi Sultanate. Akshaye Khanna portrays the antagonist, Aurangzeb, one of the most infamous rulers of the Mughal Empire.

As reported by Sacnilk, the film has reportedly sold Rs 5.41 crore tickets for its opening day on February 14. Data from Sacnilk indicates that Hindi movies have the highest occupancy rates in Maharashtra and Telangana, followed by Tamil Nadu.

About Chhaava

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Maddock Films, Chhaava will hit theatres on February 14, 2025. The film’s release date was confirmed on Instagram with a message highlighting the significance of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s Rajyabhishek ceremony on January 16, 1681, stating that it marks the beginning of a storied legacy.

Chhaava was initially slated for release on December 6, 2024, just a day after the much-anticipated debut of Pushpa 2. Concerns over potential competition from the Telugu action film likely prompted the filmmakers to adjust the release date. In addition to Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, the cast includes notable actors such as Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta.

While some users on X have critiqued the Chhaava trailer for being repetitive and lacking the depth of other period dramas like Tanhaji or Padmavat, many have praised Vicky Kaushal’s performance, noting that he shines despite some shortcomings in the visual effects.
